R.A.C.E. Report: July 30th 2002

and other EXCITING stuff!!!
31 Days!

PHOTO UPDATE:
Hello prayer warriors! I hastily composed a slide presentation update yesterday and posted it to our  http://www.wellspringoflife.com  website (spelling errors and all)... through Prayer links, scroll down. First time I have ever made one. (These creativity attacks under stress are inconvenient and no doubt need to be kept in check!) I tried to keep it limited to 5 minutes or less for downloading. If your computer's slow, grab a sandwich? or do some work/exercises while you wait? I don't have time to redo it in normal web format. Should automatically load to temporary file so won't clog your computer for long. Just click YES on everything and trust us. OTHERWISE ... what you read below is all you get! Thanks for praying folks.

HUGE POTENTIAL: With Ron’s curriculum translated into Russian, and World Team (Canada: Ernie) and International Faith Initiatives (IFI: Mike / USA) being so globally minded and supportive, and 15 former Soviet Union countries being in need and knowing Russian ... can you see that the potential here is enormous? Praise God!

SOGs & POGS
My three children are expressing SOG (Stressed Out Gang) feelings, as their plans (and therefore ours as well) keep getting changed through factors beyond their control. I am encouraging them into POG posture. Praying Overtime Gang! 1 Peter 5:7 casting with responsible diligence. Please join us in that. Thanks. (They are still supportive of us going and are coping not smoothly but still quite well in their relationship with Christ)

RACE REPORT: (Text not the same as website slide show though some topics the same)

"We're Missionaries!" Ron said as we crossed the border back into Canada. Boy did that sound weird. BUT with the nutso schedule this last year that is worsening now I feel we're getting equipped and toughened up for the job ... if it doesn't kill us first! We just returned from submitting ourselves to 10 FULL, stressful days of spotlight examination by World Team staff. (My jogs for blood sugar balance got bumped to night or 5:30 a.m.) WT and Ron and I worked to allow God to reveal our hearts through various seeming "impossible" challenges meant to stretch and rattle us, simulating the pressures of missionary life. Detailed teaching was given as well, such that Ron and I came away feeling that World Team is extraordinarily thorough in both equipping and loving their candidates and missionaries. The same mutual support is clearly evident amongst all the staff members. They too are payed through money at least partially fundraised by themselves. Sacrificial labours of love were everywhere and genuine. I find no words in this writing-on-the-fly moment to describe their dedication to prayer. Exemplary for sure. Though tough and seemingly extremely inconvenient before we went down there (Warrington PA), as usual God knows best. It was precisely what we needed to feel more specifically equipped and energized to face the mile long "To Do" list for August and then begin well overseas Sept. 1st.

Teary departure. While at R.A.C.E we stayed with an extraordinarily gracious widow. She cheerfully shared herself and her modern immaculate home with these two Canadian strangers. We felt honeymoon -like refreshment throughout the minimal non-working hours and developed a special love for this godly lady.

We had a wonderful time doing most of our home church (Grace Trinity Community Church) service July 28th, receiving much blessing in the commissioning and chatting and later fellowshipping with others at the church picnic. What a fine , talented, warm, fun bunch! World Team Canada director Rev Ernie Dyck and his wife Joan drove over for both even though he too had just returned from Pennsylvania the night before. Such precious people! (and they reeeeeeeeeeeally enjoyed our presentation, which had the fruit of an added creativity attack Ron and I experienced in the car on the drive home from Pennsylvania.)

Still RACING? Definitely. Pray we see and follow God's agenda, completing all that NEEDS to be done, and postponing or releasing rest. We have additional World Team meetings this month (Mississauga) and more fundraising to do, ... but ... big breath & onward! Step by step He Leads and enables. We hope to return for Ron to teach once per year, as well as visit relatives and friends socially and ministerially

Gotta go. "Rejoice in The Lord and be glad!"
Linda
